Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, Canada, Kap’s Café has been targeted for the second time in less than a month, with gunfire reported in the early hours of Thursday. According to Money Control, the incident has raised concerns over the safety of Indian public figures abroad and the rising trend of organised criminal threats crossing international borders.

The Incident

Located at the intersection of 85 Avenue and Scott Road, the café was found with six bullet holes and shattered windows when authorities arrived. No injuries were reported, but the attack mirrors a similar shooting last month, which occurred just days after the café’s grand opening.

Gang’s Threatening Message

In a social media post, gangster Goldy Dhillon – believed to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang – claimed responsibility for the latest shooting. The message suggested that Kapil Sharma had ignored previous warnings and included a direct threat, stating that “the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai” if their demands were not met.

Earlier Attack Linked to BKI

The previous attack in July was claimed by Harjit Singh Laddi, a member of the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) group. That shooting was allegedly linked to remarks Kapil Sharma had made about Nihang Sikhs, though Sharma never publicly confirmed any connection.

Broader Implications

The back-to-back incidents have highlighted concerns over the reach of criminal syndicates like the Bishnoi network, whose operations reportedly extend across India and into countries like Canada. The attacks also raise questions about security measures for high-profile individuals within the Indian diaspora.

Investigation Underway

The Surrey Police Service is investigating both attacks, but no arrests have been made so far. Authorities are working to verify the authenticity of the social media claims. Kapil Sharma has not yet issued a statement following the second incident, though after the first attack he thanked local law enforcement for their swift response.

Security experts say these incidents underscore the growing influence of transnational gangs and the need for coordinated action between Indian and Canadian authorities to protect public figures and communities from intimidation.
