Comedian Rajiv Thakur was dropped from Kapil Sharma’s show, with trolls labelling him “boring” and his career reportedly taking a hit after he was mocked by a child on national television. According to The Indian Express, absent from the latest season, Thakur now reveals his exit was due to scheduling conflicts and limited screen time – not a voluntary decision.

The Truth Behind His Absence

In a candid conversation, Rajiv Thakur explained that his absence from the ongoing season of The Great Indian Kapil Show was not his choice but a production decision. “Obviously apko nikala gaya hoga,” he said with a hint of humour, confirming he had been dropped from the lineup. With only 55 minutes per episode and big names like Kapil Sharma, Krushna Abhishek, and Sunil Grover already included, there just wasn’t enough room to accommodate everyone.

Trolls and the ‘Boring’ Tag

Thakur revealed that the “boring” label originated from an old Comedy Circus episode where child artist Saloni Daini was encouraged to mock him. He had himself written the lines that portrayed him as a comedian struggling for relevance. One such line – “I am making a living on a kid’s salary” – got laughs, but unfortunately stuck. Viewers began to perceive him as unfunny, and trolls amplified that image.

Limited Screen Time, Shrinking Visibility

Rajiv admitted that the show’s shorter format meant very limited screen time for each performer. With tighter scripts and a star-heavy lineup, it became difficult to accommodate everyone. This ultimately led to his exclusion despite being a regular on the show for many seasons.

Personal Reflection and Industry Impact

He candidly shared how being labelled “boring” affected his confidence and career. Although the jokes were meant in good spirit, they shaped public perception negatively. Thakur questioned the label himself: “Can a boring person do 14 seasons of a comedy show for 8 years?”

A Silver Lining in Reinvention

Despite the setback, Rajiv remains active in the comedy circuit. He made a humorous cameo in Season 3 of The Great Indian Kapil Show, where Kapil joked: “You were not invited this time as well.” This moment served as both a playful dig and a reminder of Rajiv’s enduring presence in the world of comedy.

What This Means for Thakur’s Career

While being dropped from such a prominent show was a blow, Rajiv’s honesty and self-awareness might help him bounce back stronger. His reflections have struck a chord with many, and this may open new doors as he looks beyond the Kapil Sharma universe.
