Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has broken his silence on his divorce from influencer-choreographer Dhanashree Verma, sharing emotional insights into the breakdown of their five-year marriage and the mental toll of widespread cheating allegations.
Behind the Breakup
Chahal revealed in a candid interview that by their third year together, cracks had already begun to emerge in their partnership. He and Dhanashree agreed to maintain a unified front publicly—keeping their relationship status quiet until the divorce was finalized, presenting themselves as a normal couple on social media despite growing emotional distance.
Reflecting on the relationship, he acknowledged that both were deeply committed to demanding careers, which made compromise difficult. While ambition brought success, it also contributed to emotional disconnects over time.
Addressing Cheating Rumours
The cricketer firmly denied all accusations of infidelity. “I have never cheated in my life,” he stated. “I am not that kind of person. You won’t find anyone more loyal than me.” Having grown up with two sisters and being raised to respect women, Chahal condemned the allegations as baseless and sensationalized by media hoping for views.
Mental Health Under Pressure
Chahal admitted to battling depression and anxiety following the divorce and public scrutiny. For up to 45 days, he reportedly slept only a couple of hours a night, cried for hours, and even considered ending his life. “I had suicidal thoughts, I was tired of my life… I wanted a break from cricket,” Chahal disclosed.
He credited close friends—like Prateek Pawar, Priyank Tehlan, and RJ Mahavash—and his family with pulling him through those dark weeks. Their support, he said, helped him regain stability when he could no longer cope alone.
On New Relationship Speculation
Rumours linking Chahal romantically to RJ Mahavash gained traction following his separation. Chahal addressed these speculations directly, clarifying that Mahavash is a close friend who provided emotional support—nothing romantic. He expressed frustration that people labelled her a “homewrecker,” calling such rumours hurtful and false.
Final Thoughts
Chahal and Dhanashree married in December 2020 and officially divorced in early 2025. According to public records, their separation involved a mutual financial settlement of ₹4.75 crore.
