Arora’s expected induction follows AAP’s impressive win in the Ludhiana West bypoll last month, where he secured a decisive mandate, improving the party’s vote share in one of Punjab’s key urban constituencies. A trusted figure in the party and a successful industrialist-turned-politician, Arora is known for his philanthropic work and clean image—making him a symbolic addition to the council of ministers.
This expansion comes after months of speculation and is widely seen as the fulfilment of a public promise made by AAP’s top leadership, including Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Mann, during the by-election campaign.
Cabinet Capacity Nears Limit
With Arora’s likely induction, the Punjab Cabinet will expand to 17 ministers, just one short of the constitutional maximum of 18 (including the Chief Minister).
