Honda Cars India has launched a special edition of its popular midsize sedan the Honda City Sport Edition at an introductory price of ₹14.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This limited-run model is based on the City’s V CVT variant and features several cosmetic upgrades aimed at enhancing its sporty appeal, while retaining the practicality and reliability the City is known for.
Distinctive Sporty Exteriors
The City Sport Edition arrives with a fresh and athletic design, marked by a blacked-out theme. Up front, the standard chrome grille has been replaced by a gloss-black grille, accompanied by blacked-out ORVMs (outside rearview mirrors), a gloss-black shark-fin antenna, and a black rear spoiler. A new set of grey multi-spoke alloy wheels add to the sedan’s sporty presence.
The Sport Edition also features a distinct ‘Sport’ badge on the boot lid, reinforcing its exclusivity. It is available in three eye-catching colors—Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray Metallic—chosen to complement the new dark-themed design language.
Enhanced Interiors with Ambient Appeal
Inside the cabin, the City Sport Edition receives a premium all-black interior with red contrast stitching on the leatherette seats, steering wheel, and door pads. This theme is further extended to the dashboard, which gets a dark red trim garnish, and glossy black surrounds for the AC vents. Soft-touch materials and a black roof lining enhance the sporty ambiance.
One of the key highlights of the cabin is the addition of a seven-color ambient lighting system, a unique feature in this variant. This setup adds to the visual drama of the cabin, particularly during night drives, while offering a more upscale experience compared to the standard V trim.
Powertrain Remains Unchanged
Under the hood, the City Sport Edition continues to use the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers the regular model. This naturally aspirated unit produces 119 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a CVT automatic transmission only and also features paddle shifters for a more engaging drive.
The certified fuel efficiency remains unchanged at 18.4 km/l, making it a practical choice for daily city commutes as well as highway cruising.
Features and Safety Package
The Sport Edition offers the full feature set of the V CVT trim. This includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start, and a four-speaker sound system.
Importantly, it also comes with Honda Sensing, the company’s Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite. This includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, auto high beam, and emergency braking—making it one of the safest options in its segment.
Aimed at Style-Conscious Buyers
Priced ₹49,000 higher than the standard V CVT variant, the Sport Edition is targeted at buyers who value style and exclusivity. While it misses out on features found in the higher ZX trims—like a sunroof, rear AC vents, and a lane-watch camera—it delivers a solid value proposition through its cosmetic upgrades and standard safety tech.
