The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the case concerning the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, stating that there is no evidence to suggest that Rhea Chakraborty or her family members were involved in any illegal activities leading to his demise, reported Hindustan Times. The report also addressed allegations of financial misconduct and threats, concluding that these claims are unsubstantiated.

The CBI found no proof indicating that Rhea Chakraborty or any other accused had illegally confined or threatened Sushant Singh Rajput. The only allegation was a statement from Sushant’s family claiming he mentioned that Rhea threatened to make his medical records public. The agency treated this as hearsay and not substantial evidence. The report further clarified that Sushant’s financial matters were managed by his chartered accountant and lawyer, with no evidence suggesting that Rhea misused his funds or coerced him into financial transactions.

Regarding property, the CBI found that Rhea did not take any belongings from Sushant’s residence without his consent. The only items she removed were personal gifts, including an Apple laptop and a wristwatch, which had been given to her by Sushant. The investigation also indicated that there was no evidence of any immediate provocation or abetment by Rhea or any other accused that could have led Sushant to take his own life. The report confirmed that Sushant was not illegally confined or restrained in any manner by any of the accused or any other person.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s family has expressed disagreement with the CBI’s closure report, describing it as incomplete and an “eyewash.” They have alleged that the investigation was not thorough and plan to challenge the closure report in court, seeking a more detailed examination of the case. The matter is scheduled to be heard in a Patna court on December 20, 2025, where the family’s objections to the closure report will be presented. The court’s hearing is expected to determine the future course of legal action in this high-profile case.

The CBI report has ignited renewed discussions about the legal process and the handling of high-profile investigations, drawing significant attention from both the public and media.
