In a landmark move that signals a new era in India’s electric vehicle revolution, Tata Motors has officially launched the much-anticipated Tata Harrier EV at an introductory price of ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This cutting-edge electric SUV is not just another addition to the EV market—it’s a bold statement from India’s leading automaker, blending powerful performance, smart design, and green technology.
The Harrier EV becomes Tata’s first electric SUV with all-wheel drive (AWD), powered by a dual-motor setup that delivers a combined torque of over 500 Nm. Built on Tata’s new Gen 2 Acti.ev+ platform, the Harrier EV offers significant structural upgrades, smarter weight distribution, and superior driving dynamics. This makes it not just a city commuter but a capable off-roader, as recently demonstrated during its impressive climb up Kerala’s Elephant Rock.
One of the biggest talking points is its impressive driving range. Tata offers two battery pack options—65 kWh and 75 kWh. The larger pack delivers an ARAI-certified range of 627 km, offering a real-world range of up to 505 km, giving range anxiety a serious beatdown. Additionally, the SUV supports 120 kW DC fast charging, which can take the battery from 20% to 80% in just 25 minutes. Features like vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging further boost the SUV’s utility, allowing it to power gadgets or even charge other electric vehicles.
In terms of design, Tata has retained the bold road presence of the ICE Harrier while infusing the EV version with distinctive touches like a closed-off grille, new LED lighting, and redesigned aero wheels. Inside, the Harrier EV promises a premium experience with a redesigned cabin featuring high-quality materials, a floating infotainment screen, and a digital driver display.
Tata has confirmed that bookings will open from July 2, while deliveries are expected to begin later this year. The Harrier EV will compete with upcoming electric SUVs like the Mahindra XUV.e9 and international players such as the BYD Atto 3 and Hyundai Kona Electric.
With the launch of the Harrier EV, Tata Motors has firmly cemented its position as a trailblazer in India’s EV space. It offers not just an eco-friendly alternative but a high-performance, feature-rich electric SUV tailored for modern Indian roads and aspirations.
