As the cricketing world gears up for the high-octane IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), a new question has taken center stage—what if the match gets washed out due to rain?

Scheduled to take place at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on June 1, this clash will determine who earns the final ticket to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 final. But with the Indian summer often bringing unexpected weather swings, fans are anxious about the possibility of a rain interruption.

Unlike the final, which has a designated reserve day, Qualifier 2 does not enjoy that luxury. According to IPL rules, if the match is completely abandoned due to rain, the team that finished higher in the league stage standings will advance to the final. That puts PBKS—who ended the league phase at the top of the table with 19 points—in a stronger position compared to MI, who entered the playoffs as the fourth-placed team.

While the stakes are sky-high, the good news for fans is that weather forecasts suggest minimal chance of rain. AccuWeather predicts clear skies over Ahmedabad on match day, with evening temperatures hovering around 31–35°C and humidity in the 48–56% range. Barring an unforeseen weather twist, the match is expected to go ahead as scheduled.

In case of any interruptions, IPL has a rule that allows the use of Super Over to determine the winner—provided even a five-over-per-side game can be completed. If not a single ball is bowled and no Super Over is possible, PBKS will move ahead by default.

Mumbai Indians will be hoping not only to outplay their opponents but also to outsmart the clouds. For PBKS, rain would be a blessing in disguise—a ticket to their first IPL final in years. For MI, only a complete game offers a fair shot at keeping their title hopes alive.

As anticipation builds and fans brace for the drama to unfold, one thing is certain—whether it’s the bat, the ball, or the weather, every element will play a crucial role in shaping the IPL 2025 finale.
