The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts of Himachal Pradesh, warning of intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds in the coming days. The weather disturbance, triggered by an active western disturbance and moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea, is expected to persist until June 2, 2025.

The orange alert covers key districts including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Solan, Sirmaur, and Shimla. These regions may witness heavy rain along with thunderstorms and wind speeds reaching 50–60 km/h. The rest of the state remains under a yellow alert, indicating less severe but still impactful weather conditions.

According to the IMD, the current weather pattern could lead to a drop in daytime temperatures by up to 6°C, while nighttime temperatures may rise slightly over the next two to three days. The department has warned of possible localized flooding, waterlogging, and traffic disruption, especially in landslide-prone areas.

Residents and tourists in Himachal Pradesh are advised to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid travel to hilly and unstable regions, and closely monitor updates from the IMD and local authorities. The weather alert comes at a time when monsoon activity is yet to peak, raising early concerns about pre-monsoon preparedness across the hill state.

Emergency response teams are on standby in vulnerable districts, and local administrations have been asked to ensure that all precautionary measures are in place. With tourism season in full swing, authorities are also urging caution for visitors heading to hill stations during this period of weather volatility.

As Himachal Pradesh faces a fresh spell of heavy rainfall, the IMD continues to monitor the evolving situation and is expected to release updated forecasts as conditions develop.
