Xiaomi has officially launched its second-generation clamshell foldable, the Mix Flip 2, introducing a suite of major upgrades in performance, design, battery capacity, and display technology. With this release, Xiaomi is targeting the premium foldable segment and aiming to challenge market leaders like Samsung and Motorola more aggressively than ever.
Design and Display Enhancements
The Mix Flip 2 features a refined aluminum-and-glass chassis that balances style and durability. Weighing just 199 grams and measuring only 7.57 mm when unfolded, it feels compact without compromising functionality. It is available in four elegant finishes: White, Purple, Green, and Checkered Gold.
On the outside, it sports a 4.01-inch AMOLED cover screen with a sharp 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says the outer screen supports over 500 apps for enhanced multitasking. Inside, the foldable features a 6.86-inch LTPO AMOLED display, also with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, and reaches a peak brightness of 3,200 nits—ensuring readability even under strong sunlight.
Powerful Performance and Thermal Management
Under the hood, the Mix Flip 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, manufactured on a cutting-edge 3nm process. This processor is paired with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and a premium 1TB variant—all using the ultra-fast UFS 4.0 standard.
To keep temperatures under control, Xiaomi has equipped the device with a dual VC 3D vapor-chamber cooling system, ideal for gaming and demanding multitasking.
Leica-Branded Dual Camera System
The Mix Flip 2 introduces a Leica co-engineered dual-camera setup, which includes:
- A 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a fast f/1.7 aperture.
- A 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture.
This is a shift from its predecessor, which featured a telephoto lens. On the front, housed within the main foldable display, is a high-resolution 32MP selfie camera.
Class-Leading Battery and Charging
In a first for flip-style foldables, the Mix Flip 2 packs a massive 5,165mAh battery—surpassing the typical 4,000mAh batteries found in competitors like Samsung’s Z Flip series. It supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, enabling users to power up rapidly with minimal downtime.
Connectivity and Durability
The Mix Flip 2 offers full flagship-level connectivity, including 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and multi-system GNSS support. Its durability is enhanced by Xiaomi’s updated “Dragon Bone” hinge, which reduces screen crease visibility and improves mechanical reliability.
Running on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0 based on Android 15, the phone delivers a clean, fast, and feature-rich user experience with foldable-specific optimizations.
Pricing and Availability
The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 has been launched in China with the following pricing:
- 12GB + 256GB: 5,999 CNY (approx. $837 or €715)
- 16GB + 512GB: 6,499 CNY (approx. $905 or €775)
- 16GB + 1TB: 7,299 CNY (approx. $1,015 or €870)
While there is no official word on a global release yet, Xiaomi’s prior foldables have made it to European and select international markets, so a wider rollout is likely.
