Vietnam’s electric vehicle powerhouse VinFast is all set to electrify Indian roads with the launch of three all-new electric SUVs—the VF6, VF7, and VF3. With a multi-billion dollar investment and a massive manufacturing facility taking shape in Tamil Nadu, the company’s entry signals a major shift in the country’s EV landscape.
VinFast, already a rising name in the global EV market, is placing a significant bet on India as its next growth hub. The automaker has committed to investing up to $2 billion, with $500 million earmarked for the first phase alone. Construction is already underway on a 400-acre EV plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, expected to generate thousands of jobs and roll out over 150,000 vehicles annually.
Three Electric SUVs, One Common Goal: Disrupt the Status Quo

The VF6 and VF7 will cater to India’s urban and mid-size SUV segments, offering futuristic design, cutting-edge features, and impressive range. The VF3, the smallest of the trio, could be a game-changer for city drivers—an affordable, compact EV designed for daily use in Indian traffic conditions.
These models are expected to hit the Indian market starting late 2025, beginning with semi-knocked-down units, followed by full local assembly once the Tamil Nadu facility goes operational. This transition to local production is expected to bring down costs and increase accessibility, giving Indian buyers more affordable and technologically advanced EV options.
Charging Into the Future with a Clean Mobility Vision
VinFast’s entry couldn’t have come at a better time. As India aggressively pushes for electric mobility through initiatives like FAME II and state-level EV policies, consumers are warming up to the idea of going electric. VinFast’s strategy aligns perfectly with this national vision—blending global EV tech with local manufacturing and pricing.

With rivals like Tata Motors, Mahindra, MG, and Hyundai already jostling for pole position, the arrival of a global player like VinFast could supercharge competition, spark faster innovation, and lead to better deals for Indian consumers.
A Vietnamese Brand with a Global Dream
What sets VinFast apart is its clarity of purpose. In just a few years, the company has gone from launching its first car in Vietnam to showcasing models in Paris, Los Angeles, and now, preparing for India. Its vehicles are known for blending smart tech with sustainability, including AI-powered infotainment, advanced driver assistance, and stylish, aerodynamic designs.
The EV Battle Just Got Bigger
VinFast isn’t just entering India—it’s arriving with intent, infrastructure, and innovation. The upcoming launches of the VF6, VF7, and VF3 will offer Indian consumers new choices in an evolving EV ecosystem. More importantly, it adds another powerful voice to India’s green mobility revolution.
As the roads get cleaner and competition gets fiercer, the big question is—are Indian automakers ready for the VinFast effect?
