Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has dropped a revelation that has left fans across the globe both intrigued and emotional. The actor, known for his intense method acting and selective filmography, has hinted that his long-awaited dream project Mahabharat could potentially be his last film as an actor.

In a recent media interaction, Khan revealed that after wrapping up his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par slated for release on June 20, 2025 – he plans to focus entirely on Mahabharat, a project he has been nurturing for years. The actor, often referred to as “Mr. Perfectionist,” described Mahabharat not just as another film, but as a spiritual and cinematic milestone he’s been longing to undertake.

“I want to make Mahabharat. It’s such a massive project, and I feel that maybe after doing it, I won’t want to do anything else,” Khan stated, hinting that the magnitude and personal significance of the epic might be enough to mark the end of his acting journey.

This isn’t the first time Khan has spoken about his fascination with the ancient Indian epic. Over the past few years, he has mentioned his desire to bring Mahabharat to life in a grand, multi-part cinematic format. But this is the first time he has tied the project to his possible retirement, sparking intense reactions from fans and the film industry alike.

Interestingly, Aamir Khan has taken a measured approach since Laal Singh Chaddha, stepping away from acting briefly and turning to production. His decision to slow down reflects not just personal introspection, but a desire to choose roles and stories that align with his evolving creative goals.

Even as he hints at retirement, Khan makes it clear that his love for storytelling will never fade. “I hope I die with my shoes on,” he said, suggesting that even if he steps away from the screen, he may continue to contribute to Indian cinema in other ways, perhaps as a director, writer, or producer.

As excitement builds around Sitaare Zameen Par, which promises a heartwarming narrative with a touch of humour, all eyes are now turning to the mythological epic that could define the final chapter of Aamir Khan’s legendary career.

Whether or not Mahabharat becomes his swan song, one thing is clear – Aamir Khan is setting the stage for what might be his most ambitious and transformative role yet.
